Bernd Brinkmann

Bernd Brinkmann ( born April 7, 1939 in Hamburg ) is a German forensic pathologist.

Life

Brinkmann studied law and medicine in Hamburg and his habilitation in 1972 for the subject of forensic medicine. From 1981 to July 2007, he was Director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. From 1990 he was Coordinating Editor of the International Journal of Legal Medicine until the end of 2009.

1998 awarded him the Semmelweis University in Budapest honorary doctorate, 2009, the University of Coimbra in Coimbra.

Bernd Brinkmann was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina Hall in 1991 and was president of the German Society of Legal Medicine ( 1995-2001), the International Academy of Legal Medicine (1994-2000 ) and the International Society of Forensic Genetics (1990-1994 ).

He was until 2010 chairman of the Stain Commission, which organizes the GEDNAP testing methods for quality assurance in track customer and forensic molecular genetics. Was also in the morgue and the section being and is it the establishment of national and international standards is a big concern.

His research interests were, inter alia, the analysis of blood traces, the sudden infant death syndrome ( SIDS), Histo - morphology of drowning, evidence of suffocation.
