Life and work
Private
Liefers comes from a theatrical family. His father is the director Karlheinz Liefers, his mother the actress Brigitte Liefers - Wähner, his grandfather Heinz Liefers was an actor. Jan Josef Liefers grew up in Dresden and finished an apprenticeship as a carpenter at the State Theatre Dresden. Subsequently, he studied from 1983 to 1987 at the Academy of Dramatic Arts " Ernst Busch" in Berlin.
From his first marriage with the Russian actress Alexandra Tabakowa, daughter of the Moscow actor, director and drama coach Oleg Tabakow, Liefers has a daughter and with his former girlfriend Ann -Kathrin Kramer a son.

Theater
