Bernd Duvigneau

Bernd Duvigneau ( born December 3, 1955 in Magdeburg ) is a former German canoeist. He was at the Summer Olympics in Moscow with the four-man kayak the GDR Olympic champion.

Duvigneau was from 1966 to 1982 active athlete in the Department of canoe racing the SC Magdeburg. The first international success was the 1973 European Junior Championships over 500m in one kayak in Poland; In addition to numerous GDR championships in two-man and four-man kayak, he won with four of the GDR, the World Cup over 1000 m, and 1978 and 1979, the double World Cup over 500 meters as 1000 m.

Duvigneau was also able to win medals at two Olympic Games; first he was third in the 1000 m race in the K4 at the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, four years later, then win the gold medal in Moscow.

For his athletic achievements, he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1974 and 1980.

Today Duvigneau is as chairman of the judges board member of the country Canoe Association Saxony- Anhalt. He is married and has two children.
