Life

Bernhard Solger was the fourth child and second son of Mr and Mrs Frederick and Dorothea born Christa Dinkier. Bernhard Solger attended elementary school in Coburg, then high schools in Coburg, Bayreuth. He studied medicine in Erlangen, Würzburg, Tübingen and Munich. In 1868 he became a member of Corps Bavaria Würzburg. During the Franco-German War Solger was employed as a doctor in a field hospital. In 1872 he earned his doctorate at the University of Würzburg for MD, the state exam he was in the same year in Munich.

Solger joined as an assistant at the University of Breslau and his habilitation in 1875 appointed to prosector of anatomy, he was transferred in 1877 to the University of Halle. In 1882 he received a stipendiary professorship at the request of the faculty. 1886 Solger was appointed to a professorship at the University of Greifswald. Solger researched mainly for the construction of the cell, particularly the nucleus. Among other things, he discovered the central mass of pigment cells. He has also written papers on the supporting tissue and the anatomy of the glands.
