Bert Sommer

Bert Sommer ( born February 7, 1949 and † July 23, 1990 in Albany, New York ) was an American musician, songwriter and actor.

As an actor, played summer for the Broadway musical Hair. He also had a role in the film Ironweed.

He became famous for an appearance at the Woodstock festival on August 15, 1969 in which he was accompanied by his studio guitarist Ira Stone. They played 10 songs, including the Simon & Garfunkel Cover America and Jennifer. The latter had summer Jennifer Warnes wrote that he knew of Hair from Los Angeles.

Summer subsequently took two more albums, their success was, however, apart from the written in Woodstock single We're All Playing in the Same band, low. He was also a member of the rock band The Left Banke.

He died on 23 July 1990 in New York from a chronic respiratory disease.
