Bertelsmann Building

The Bertelsmann Building is a 223 meter tall skyscraper with 42 floors in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The official address is 1540 Broadway. The office building is located between 45th Street and 46th Street and is therefore close to Times Square.

The building was designed by the architectural firm Skidmore Owings and Merrill. It is the 36 - tallest building in New York City.

The construction work on the construction began in 1989 and ended in the middle of the year 1990. Plans for a skyscraper as Bertelsmann, headquartered in New York City was already in the late 1980s.

The building is the North American headquarters of Bertelsmann publishing house, with the Virgin Megastore, one of the world's biggest record stores. The first Official All- Star Café, which was founded by Hollywood stars restaurant chain Planet Hollywood opened in 1996 in the building.
