Bertha Hope

Bertha ( Rosamond ) Hope ( born November 8, 1936 in Vicksburg, Mississippi) is an American jazz pianist.

Life and work

Hope grew up in California. Since 1960, she was married to the pianist Elmo Hope, with whom she moved to New York City in 1961 and three duets recorded. Her first record under his own name she published in 1992., Where she was accompanied by drummer Jimmy Cobb and bassist Walter Booker, with whom she was married in second marriage. In addition to original compositions and jazz standards they played there also "Something for Kenny" Elmo Hope. Also on later albums with Sportingbet Group Elmollenium she devoted herself occasionally the compositions of her first husband. Together with Paula Hampton and Carline Ray, she founded the band Jazz Berry Jam!.
