Bertil H. van Boer

Bertil van Boer H. Jr. ( born October 2, 1952 in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, the son of a Swede and a U.S. citizen ) is an American musicologist, violinist, composer and conductor and is a professor at Western Washington University.

Life

He studied at the University of California, Berkeley, California, ( 1974: Bachelor's degree ) at the University of Oregon, ( 1978: Master's degree in music history ). Next he studied with Cesar Bresgen composition at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. After working at Cornell University, Ithaca, he went to the University of Uppsala in Sweden, where he became in 1983 a doctorate in musicology.

The College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University (Kansas), the Conservatorio Nacional of Nicaragua, the Shasta College, Redding, California, and the Brigham Young University, are also among his stops as a musicologist, before becoming a professor at the College of Fine and Performing Arts was appointed to the Western Washington University.

He is currently Dean of the Faculty Senate and a member of the Western Washington University.

Bertil van Boer is married to Margaret L. Fast.

Van Boer dealt in addition with composers such as Christoph Willibald Gluck, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn and some Swedish contemporaries, including Johan Helmich Roman Johan Agrell and. Recently he made in Germany known composer and musician Ignacio de Jerusalem, who lived in South America in the 18th century.

His own compositions have been performed in Sweden, Austria, the United States and Nicaragua. In Stuttgart he has been in the summer of 2006 for a long time, since he was the publisher of the works of Joseph Martin Kraus also in the preparation of the premiere of the opera " Aeneas in Carthage " ( 1781-1791 ) complicit in the Staatsoper Stuttgart in July 2006.
