Bertinazzi

Carlo Antonio Bertinazzi ( born December 2, 1710 in Turin, † September 6, 1783 in Paris) was an actor of the commedia dell'arte. Under the stage name Carlin he was in his time one of the most famous actors in France. He was married to actress Françoise -Suzanne Foulquier.

From 1742 until his retirement he played in the Italian theater in Paris on the role of Harlequin with steady success. With his genuine, natural and comical appearance and cheerfulness of his Lazzi he played to the delight of the audience.

His stage name Carlin was eponymous for the French name of the dog breed pug.
