Beserkley Records

Beserkley Records was an American indie record label based in Berkeley, California.

The record company was founded in 1975 by Matthew King Kaufman, and was the home of various artists and bands such as Earthquake, The Rubinoos, The Smirks, Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers, and - the most successful on Beserkley - Greg Kihn Greg Kihn with the band.

Their first release was in 1975 the album " Beserkley Chartbusters, Volume 1", a record whose title was a marketing gimmick, because it consisted of songs above mentioned performers who were not even come close to the charts; some were even recorded especially for the LP.

The Beserkley recordings and the label were 1986 licensed to Rhino Records.
