Betagarri

Betagarri is a band of eight musicians from the Basque Country, the music together since 1992. All members come from Vitoria- Gasteiz, capital of the Basque country. The cast of today's band does not have much in common with the initial formation. Only Iñaki Ortiz de Villalba (vocals), Aitor Ruiz de Arbulo (guitar) and Pablo Rodríguez ( bass) are from the beginning. Over the years, additional musicians and instruments were added or changed the musicians: Iker Uriarte (drums), Aitor Agirre (guitar ), David Gavina (saxophone), Mikel Sanz (trombone) and Unai Lobo (trumpet ). That is the current occupation since 2003.

Betagarri play a mix of ska, reggae and rock, but also Latin and punk influences are represented. Almost all the songs are written in the Basque language. The texts are devoted to largely social and global justice issues from a leftist point of view. Also the conflict Spain / Basque Country is discussed. Many tours and more than 500 concerts led Betagarri through Europe and the USA, to Japan they are known.
