Betim

Betim is a city in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. In 2006 lived in Betim 407 003 people to 346 km ².

The per capita income in 2003 was R $ 35,256. An economic boom in the 1960s owes Betim Gabriel Passos Refinery and a plant of the automobile manufacturer Fiat.

History

Its history begins in 1711 with the building of a chapel here by the Bandeirante Joseph Rodrigues Betim, the namesake of the city. The city rights they received, however, only on 17 December 1938.
