Bezenye

Bezenye ( Pallersdorf German, Croatian Bizonja ) is a municipality in the county of Gyor -Moson -Sopron in Hungary.

Geography

Bezenye is located in the northwestern corner of the Moson- level at the Austrian- Slovak-Hungarian border. The town is located east of the railway line Bratislava - Hegyeshalom.

History

The area has been inhabited since Roman times. Near Bezenye are Germanic graves. Later, the whole place was Hungarian.

Bezenye was first documented in 1262. The first church was in 1400 Kisboldogasszony ( distinguishing Fertőboldogasszony - Woman churches in Seewinkel, Burgenland ) called. After the Turks destroyed Dalmatia, Croatian refugees settled down here. In 1930, most of the villagers explained to Croats. But there is evidence that German settlers were buried in the cemetery in the 18th century. Thus, at least at that time was the site of a multi-ethnic community.

1918 should Bezenye as part of the Burgenland come to Austria, but the Allies decided on the basis of strategic considerations differently. 1947 should be to increase the Bratislava bridgehead, the place with five other locations on request of Czechoslovakia Hungary be transferred, but he remained with Rajka in Hungary.

In the community, many clubs are located, so there is a very active cultural life. The municipality has a Croatian minority self-government.
