Bezold–Jarisch reflex

The Bezold -Jarisch reflex is an outgoing of the heart muscle Already reflex. It was named after the German physiologist reflex Albert von Bezold (1836-1868) and Adolf Jarisch junior ( 1891-1965 ).

In heart failure (eg heart attack) the blood vessels to widen ( vasodilation ). This results in a lowering of heart rate ( bradycardia) and a lowering of blood pressure (hypotension ) is reached.

The reflex triggering receptors are located in the heart muscle of the ventricles. When damage by, for example, chemicals, lack of myocardial perfusion and oxygen supply to the heart muscle, the receptors are stimulated.
