Bharatpur (Nepal)

Bharatpur ( Nepali: भरतपुर ) is the fifth largest city in Nepal in the Chitwan district ). It has an area of 162 km ² and 143 836 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). The city is located in south-central Nepal in the Chitwan Valley and is about 146 km from Kathmandu at an altitude of 208 m.
Attractions
- The Chitwan National Park is the third largest tourist destination in Nepal, a major tiger reserve and since 1984 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- The Narayani is the deepest river in Nepal and one of the largest; its small islands represent a popular destination
- The district Narayangadh is the main shopping and business center of the city. There are also numerous hotels and restaurants.
- The Bish - Hazari Lake is located in the south of the city, just 5 kilometers from the city center, in the Chitwan National Park. The lake is a popular destination for the observation of birds and crocodiles.
