Bhundu Boys

The Bhundu Boys were a music group from Harare, Zimbabwe. The band joined Chimurenga with rock 'n' roll, disco and pop influences.

Band History

The band was founded in 1980 and became known in Europe in the 1980s, among others, by John Peel, the music itself is said to have completely overwhelmed when he heard for the first time. In 1993 they were among the accompanying musicians of the Latin Quarter on their album Long Pig. Together with them, they covered Ring Of Fire and Radio Africa.

Bhundu means bush. The name is inspired by the Bhundu Boys who fought to 1980 pages of Robert Gabriel Mugabe as guerrillas for independence. In 1985 she had her first hit, for three months at No. 1 was as Hatisitose in Zimbabwe.
