Bielle

Bielle is a commune of 448 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region. The place belongs to the canton Laruns in the Arrondissement Oloron -Sainte -Marie.

Geography

The mountain resort is situated 27 kilometers south of Pau in the Pyrenees National Park, in the Vallée d' Ossau, which was created by the Gave d' Ossau. The mountain pass Col de Marie- Blanque ( 1035 meters) connects the neighboring community Bilhères with Escot in the Vallée d' Aspe. This route has often been involved in the past in the Tour de France. Neighboring communities of Bielle are:

  • Casts and Louvie Juzon in the Northeast,
  • Aste- Béon in the southeast
  • Gère- Bélesten in the south
  • Aydius and Sarrance in the southwest and
  • Bilhères in the West.
