Bill Fay

Bill Fay (* in London) is an English singer and songwriter.

Life and work

Bill Fay grew up in North London. At 18 he began at Bangor University in Wales to study electronics and the way to write music. Mid-1965, he returned to London, where he recorded the first demo versions of their songs. Decca Records became aware of him and offered him a contract. In 1967 on the Decca label Deram, the single Some Good Advice that was not successful, however. Nevertheless, Decca financed two albums: 1970 the debut Bill Fay and a year later Time of the Last Persecution. Both plates were commercial failures and Fays recording contract with Decca was not renewed.

In 1998, re-released by the British label See for Miles Records on CD Fays albums. As a result, younger musicians interested in Fay and his music, as Jeff Tweedy and Jim O'Rourke. David Tibet published in 2004 and 2007 on his label Durtro two collections of demos and occasional studio recordings from 1966 to 1981.

Appeared first in 2012 with Life Is People Fays regular studio album since 1971. Comeback acceptance has been very positive from the press.
