Billy Birrell

William " Billy" Birrell (* March 1897; † November 1968 ) was a Scottish football player and football coach.

Career

As a player, Birrell was at the Raith Rovers and Middlesbrough FC under contract. Birrell finished his football career 1927. Between 1927 and 1930 he was the coach of the Raith Rovers. From 1930 on, he coached the AFC Bournemouth. Birrel was then in 1935 at the Queens Park Rangers under contract. Even before the outbreak of the Second World War, he got an offer from Chelsea, which he accepted also. At Chelsea he was then finally to end his career as a coach for seven years after the end of the Great War.
