Billy the Cat is a French- Belgian comic and basing British animated series. The focus is on the boy Billy, who is turned into a cat because of his malice towards animals as punishment and experiencing adventures with animals.

Content

Billy has been transformed because of his malice towards animals in a cat to experience what this feeling here, and to adjust to his new situation, to make friends. So Billy is living with the hangover Sir Hubert in the junkyard and comes with other animals in contact, mostly cats and dogs. When his family but Billy can no longer live, because his mother is allergic to cats and his dog Gonzo does not like cats. Together with the animals experienced Billy different adventures. The experiences of the past lives help Billy about to break free again and again from awkward situations.

Billy the cat started as Franco Belgian comic book with the text of Stephen Desberg and drawings by Stéphane Colman, who appeared in 1981 in the comics magazine Spirou. Between 1990 and 1998, these were summarized in six anthologies. In 2002 he released a seventh volume containing the drawings by Marco Llin, 2003, the eighth with the drawings of Peral. In the ninth band Desberg worked with Janssens, who took over all the texts of the 10th and 11th band. Peral was a draftsman.

As of 1991, some books also appeared in German translation at the Egmont Ehapa and 1998 as a remake when Carlsen Verlag.

TV Series

In 1994, based on the comics produced a television series. Executive producers were Mikael Shields and Steve Walsh. Directed by Les Orton and Jean -Pierre Jacquet. The screenplay was written by Jill Brett, Robin Lyons, Fabrice Ziolkowski and Dennis O'Flaherty.

The series was shown in two squadrons, each with 26 episodes. After the series was filmed, was still the movie Billy the Cat: Alone aired against all this. More broadcasts were seen in the ZDF and KiKA in the years 1997 to 2008.
