Biophysical Society

The Biophysical Society ( Biophysical Society) is an American academic society. Its foundation was decided in March 1957 during the first American Biophysics Conference in Columbus, Ohio, and goes back to the initiative of a four-member committee. This was chosen in April 1956 in Atlantic City at a meeting of interested scientists.

During the first conference, a transition committee was elected which later Robley C. Williams certain as the first President of the Society. Chaired by Max A. Lauffer, a committee developed a statute, with their adoption during the Second Biophysics Conference in 1958, the company was formally founded.

The company's headquarters is located in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

Activities

The Company publishes the scientific journal of the Biophysical Journal and holds an annual conference ( Biophysical Society 's Annual Meeting ), with approximately 6,000 participants representing the world's largest gathering of biophysicists by its own account. The Society awards a number of scientific and sponsorship awards and scholarships annually.
