Birger Malmsten

Birger Malmsten Albert ( born December 23, 1920 in Gräsö, † February 15, 1991 in Stockholm) was a Swedish actor. He was known primarily as a leading man in the early films of Ingmar Bergman.

Life

Malmsten moved at a young age to Stockholm in order to fulfill his desire to become a stage actor. After his military service, he studied psychology and drama and was active in the student theater in Stockholm. Its application to the acting school of the Royal Dramatic Theatre was rejected. In May 1943, met Malmsten and Ingmar Bergman for the first time in a production of the play Strax innan you vaknar (Eng. " Shortly before the awakening "). 1944 committed Bergman Malmsten for his first professional role in Robert Bürkners stage version of Little Red Riding Hood.
