Birgit Vanderbeke

Birgit Vanderbeke ( born August 8, 1956 at the Brandenburg Dahme ) is a German writer.

Life

Vanderbeke grew after moving her family in the western part of Germany in 1961 in Frankfurt am Main, where she later law, Germanic and Romance languages studied. Since 1993 she works as a freelance writer in her new adopted home in southern France.

Work

Their most famous work is the short story The clambake, wait in the mother, son and daughter at dinner on the father. This is late, and so the eighteen- year-old daughter can be the father of a dominant embossed family life and their petty -bourgeois conditions to reminisce. The more the arrival of the father delayed, the more sinister and threatening is the mood.

In most of her books, there is not a gloomy atmosphere; the petty-bourgeois everyday world is described with plenty of irony, humor and lightness in tone. The autobiographical text Money or Your Life from 2003 is a light-footed walk through the living conditions and feelings of the post-war decades.

In I want my murder makes Vanderbeke with literary Zitiertechniken fun of the nearby days ago operating pressure to deliver a detective novel as a potential bestseller. In a Strangers on a train - staging, there are many playful allusions and unexpected spins, which should make it amusing.
