Birnie Loch

Birnie Loch is a quarry in the Scottish Lowlands. It is located about 10 km north of Glenrothes at the junction of A91 and the B937 in the Council Area Fife near the village Collessie.

The lake was formerly a gravel pit. The extraction of gravel and sand is set now and the lake was left of the former mining company of the adjacent community. Since 1991 Brinie hole is a sanctuary for wild birds. In contrast to other protected areas of this type of lake is not fenced but open to the public.
