Blake Hall

Blake Hall is a manor house with gardens in the UK. It is located in Chipping Ongar in the County of Essex.

The building is based on a building from the 17th century that has been completely rebuilt and enlarged in the 18th century. Another reconstruction took place in 1822 by the architect George Basevi, a student of John Soane. Since 1789, the mansion is owned by the family Capel- Cure.

In September 1940, the German Luftwaffe bombed during the Battle of Britain, the control center of the nearby vertex RAF North Weald, whereupon the Royal Air Force claimed the south wing of Blake Hall for themselves. They tore down interior walls and ceilings to make room for a new command center. The total estate with park and outbuildings can be found in the British lists of monuments as Grade II ensemble. The main building itself is protected as a Grade II * building. Furthermore, nine grade II - listed individual monuments on the property.

The 1981 closed metro station Blake Hall is known in the mansion, although it is one mile southwest.
