Blas Riquelme

Blas Riquelme, Nicolás Centurión ( born February 3, 1929 in Lambaré; † 2 September 2012 in Asunción ) was a Paraguayan landowners, politicians and entrepreneurs.

Life

Blas Riquelme was the son of Higinia Centurión and Víctor Bernardino Riquelme (* 1896 in Asunción, † 1976). His grandfather Marcos Riquelme founded by Bernardino Caballero, the Partido Colorado. He had two brothers and four sisters. With seven years died his father's wife, and the family settled in Lambaré.

1975 Alfredo Stroessner received the Campos Morombí SAC y Agropecuaria, owned by Blas N. Riquelme, estates in the district of Curuguaty, in the department of Canindeyú.

1985 was Riquelme at Itakyry, Departamento Alto Paraná evacuate over a hundred Mbyá from their settlement in Paso Romero from his 75,000 -acre estate.

Blas Riquelme died on September 2, 2012 in Asunción in consequence of stroke.

Struggle of the landless in 2012

In June 2012, were discovered on an early Senator Blas Riquelme owned piece of land the bodies of two farmers in a violent eviction, which was directed against landless peasants. During further actions at least nine landless and six police officers were killed. The political crisis after the massacre led to the replacement of the previous interior minister of Paraguay.
