Blidinje Lake

The Blidinjsko Jezero ( " Blidinje Lake " ) is the largest lake in the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Adjacent association communities are Posušje and Tomislav degrees.

The lake is located in the Herzegovina, at the end of the valley Dugo polje between the mountains Čvrsnica, Vran and Muharnica. It lies at an altitude of 1173 m and is 2.1 km long and 2.5 km wide.

Since 30 April 1995, the lake is a nature park. These include Vran, Čvrsnica, the forest reserve Masna luka and the canyon Grabovica.

Others

  • In the surroundings of the lake are over 200 medieval grave stones, so-called Stecci (singular: Stećak ) to find.
  • In the nature park near the lake, the cave of Mijat Tomic is to see a Croatian brigand and folk hero who is said to have hidden in the 17th century there before the Ottomans.
