Bliss n Eso

Bliss n Eso are an Australian hip hop band from Sydney.

Band History

The band was originally founded in 2000 under the name n Esoterikizm Bliss, but this proved to be too long and complicated and was therefore reduced. The band consists of rappers Jonathan Notley, who is originally from the USA, and Max Mack Interior and the DJ Tarik Ejjamai. They knew each other from high school, before they founded Bliss n Eso. First, they released an EP and a mixtape on their own before they signed to Obese Records 2004. Their debut album, Flowers in the Pavement of the same year was produced with the support of members of the Hilltop Hoods, the most successful Australian hip- hop band. Nevertheless, the first LP was not a great success and so they changed the label before their second album release.

Day of the Dog was released in 2006 and brought the trio a first placement in the Australian album charts. Her first single success followed a year later with the African Zulu Connections Choir, which was on tour in Australia, they took the song Bullet and a Target as a charity single for the development project of the Australian Oaktree Foundation. Already in 2008, followed by the third album from Bliss n Eso, entitled Flying Colours, which they finally established themselves in the Australian hip hop scene. For this LP, they also got an ARIA Award for Best Urban Album of the Year. This then also had an effect on their next album Running on Air, which went straight to number one on the charts in 2010.

Until her next album then three years passed, but it was also released in the United States. While the second number-one album in a row was in her home, Bliss n Eso managed with Circus in the Sky with a placement in the R & B charts in the United States, a moderate success.
