Blokker Holding

The Blokker Holding B.V. is the parent company of a Dutch trading company that operates Germany and other countries also in Belgium, Luxembourg, France. Blokker operates under different names chain stores that deal mainly with household goods and toys mainly in the mid to low price, but also with interior furnishings, garden accessories, fashion accessories and other things. Headquarters of Blokker Holding Amsterdam is in North Holland. Blokker is one of the largest toy retailers in Central Europe. The Group employs around 24,500 people and generates an annual turnover of 2.8 billion euros.

History

Blokker was founded on 25 April 1896 by Jacob and Saapke Blokker, Hoorn as iron and wood store under the name De goedkope Yser -en Houtwinkel. In 1923 they acquired a former pottery to zoom there. In the 1930s, the sons opened under the name Gebroeder Blokker several branches in the Randstad. Their descendants built the company into a nationwide chain. Through acquisitions of other companies, the group continued to grow. Nowadays, Blokker Holding operates a total of 2,700 stores in 14 countries.

2003 Jaap Blokker was honored as Retailer of the Year. After the 2007 were made re-flagging of the German department store chain Karstadt compact Hertie GmbH for their toys departments were supplied completely Intertoys.
