Bloodhound SSC

The Bloodhound Super Sonic Car is a rocket car, with probably the end 2013/Anfang 2014 in Hakskeen Pan in South Africa, a new land speed record of 1,000 mph ( 1609.344 km / h ) is to be placed.

On the development of the vehicle were, inter alia, the technology company Lockheed Martin and the current land speed record holder Andy Green involved. The vehicle has two superimposed engines: a rocket engine with 130 kN thrust and a Eurojet EJ200 from the Euro Fighter, which makes about 90 kN. Initially, over the jet attached, the rocket engine was now placed under the EJ200 to release at ignition the huge boost in the vicinity of the center of gravity and thus achieve a higher stability.

The project will help to get students interested in technical careers in England, and it is to beat the existing world speed record for land vehicles of the previous model ThrustSSC of 1227.985 km / h by about 30 %.
