Life
Childhood
Cantrell comes in 1976 in Providence, Rhode Iceland. Eldest child of a professional NBA basketball player and a jazz singer with German, French, Scottish descent to the world At the age of three years, she acts as part of the local church choir at at charity concerts and singing competitions before a larger audience. After separation of the parents Cantrell pulls together with her mother and five siblings to Atlanta, Georgia.
Career
From the professional activities of her mother inspired Cantrell decides her luck in the music business to try. 2000 Tab and Laney Stewart, Managing Director of Red Zone Entertainment, attentive to a demo tape of the young singer. They organize a meeting with Antonio "LA" Reid, who offers her after a successful audition a recording contract with his label Arista Records. A little later, Blu starts with the recording of their debut album; in parallel, it is first as a background singer Puff Daddy, Faith Evans and Truth Hurts aside.
2001 finally appears their first album So Blu. Carried by the success of the first and only single from the album Hit ' Em Up Style ( Oops! ), the board developed at least in the English-speaking world to a top 10 success; sold in the U.S. alone, the plate within a few months, more than 500,000 units, reaching gold status. The single will indess honored with two Grammy nominations and brought Cantrell both an American Music Award as well as the Lady of Soul Award 2001.
After a two year break, the singer finally in 2003 returns with their second album Bittersweet. Although the plate in the United States by and large do not know heranzureichen to the success of the debut, it helps Cantrell, particularly in Europe and Australia to initial breakthrough. The single Breathe ( in collaboration with Sean Paul ) achieved inter alia No. 1 in the UK and Ireland. The successor U Make Me Wanna Scream may nevertheless prevail in radio airplay.
In 2005, the video for the single The Cha Cha was published on the Internet, but neither the video nor the single will be published by other means.
