Blue Bayou is a 1961 book written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson song, which was published in 1963 in the sung version of Roy Orbison. The song was in this version a number-one hit in the Irish and Australian charts and reached number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100

The song has been widely gecovert, about Chris De Burgh, Norah Jones, David Hasselhoff, Engelbert and Tony Christie. The cover version by Linda Ronstadt reached # 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977 and # 2 in the Country and Cash Box charts. For more than two million sold singles alone in the United States Linda Ronstadt received a Golden first, then a platinum record. German versions of the song are from Paola, Andy Borg and Nana Mouskouri, the latter published under the title I Want Home To You, Blue Bayou. Paola 1978, reaching number 6 in the Swiss and number 16 in the German charts. Mireille Mathieu took in 1978 to a French version.

The song was used in various films, including The Man Who Fell from the Sky, Dreamcatcher and Man on Fire.
