Blue Beat Records

Blue Beat was the first British record label for ska and reggae music.

Emil Shallit, a British businessman, imported from 1959 singles in Jamaica, which he wanted to sell to the immigrants. This, initially R'n'B singles were marketed through his record company " Melodisc " on the " Blue Beat " label.

Since Blue -beat was in the early 60s the only ska label, called the British ska "Blue Beat" or " Blue Beat". Under the name Blue Beat numerous Jamaican productions of Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken, Charlie Moo, Coxsone Dodd, Duke Reid, and other productions of Studio One in GB have been republished.

Similar to the Blue beat the British called the newer of the second wave ska two -tone since the first British label with this sound was called 2 Tone Records.

"Blue Beat" was thus a synonym of the genre Ska, after several bands named (eg The Blue Beat ).
