Laurel Aitken
Laurel Aitken (actually Lorenzo Aitken, born April 22, 1927 on Cuba, † July 17, 2005 in Leicester, England) was a singer and songwriter and is next to Desmond Dekker as one of the originators of Jamaican ska music.
Life
Laurel Aitken was born in 1927 in Cuba. In 1938 he moved with his family to West Kingston (Jamaica ), and from there he moved to England in 1960 to his career a boost to help. From his pen some of the classics of the genre such as Sally Brown Skinhead Train or originate. He was known as the Godfather of Ska and is a musical idol of the traditional skinheads.
Aitken stepped into old age again and again with different ska bands. He died on July 17, 2005 in Leicester, England to a heart attack.
