Blue Valentine is an American romantic drama from Derek Cianfrance from the year 2010. It premiered at the 26th Sundance Film Festival. German theatrical release was on August 4, 2011.
The film also ran at the International Film Festival of Cannes 2010 in Un Certain Regard.
Action
Dean, a young high school dropout who worked as a furniture mover in New York City learns by chance that the student know Cindy, who lives with her parents and taking care of her grandmother in Pennsylvania. They fall into each other promptly. After Cindy finds out that she is pregnant by her previous boyfriend, Bobby, they decide and just decided to marry Dean and little Frankie raise together. Before the wedding, look for Bobby, who knows nothing of the pregnancy, Dean at the work place, and beats him up.
The plot jumps here at a time a few years later, when already looming the end of the marriage. Dean and Cindy live in Pennsylvania, he works as a painter, she as a nurse. To once again give a chance to their relationship, they spend a night at the motel, but ends up quarreling. Cindy is early in the morning called to work in the clinic. Dean later been drunk in the hospital on and gets involved in a big row with a doctor, whereupon Cindy is terminated. Dean pleaded with Cindy that they should try again together, also keeping in mind that it would be better for Frankie. Cindy is all this no future, and although Frankie Dean insistently asks to stay, this is Cindy free and goes from there.

The film, in particular the two main characters were mostly great reviews.

Awards
Michelle Williams was nominated for both the Academy Awards in 2011 as well as at the Golden Globe Awards 2011 for Best Actress, but had to admit defeat, which was awarded the prize for the film Black Swan Natalie Portman in both cases.
Director Cianfrance received at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards, the award for Most Promising Filmmaker ( Most Promising Filmmaker ).
Music
Ryan Gosling wrote and sang some of the songs themselves, the band Grizzly Bear composed the soundtrack; He was released by Lakeshore Records.
