Grizzly Bear (Band)

Grizzly Bear is an American indie rock band from New York City borough of Brooklyn. The band combines traditional and electronic instruments and is often associated with the psychedelic folk and the folk-rock. Their sound is dominated by acoustic guitars and harmony vocals.

History

Singer and songwriter Ed Droste founded Grizzly Bear as a solo project, after he had moved from Boston to New York in 1999. Together with drummer Christopher Bear, he took in 2004 the debut album " Horn of Plenty " on. After the line-up was completed with bassist Chris Taylor and guitarist Daniel Rossen, the British label Warp Records signed the band under contract and in 2006 published the second album Yellow House. Then reinforced Grizzly Bear tour activities and played among others with Radiohead and TV on the Radio. Appeared in 2007, the EP Friend. In 2008, she played with Paul Simon at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and collaborated with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.

The commercial breakthrough reaching the band in the summer of 2009 with the release of the album Veckatimest, which peaked at number 8 of the U.S. album charts and was also placed in the album charts of several European countries.

Grizzly Bear contributed some of their pieces in the soundtrack of the 2010 film Blue Valentine published.
