Bluesnarfing

Bluesnarfing is a special form of snarfing over a Bluetooth connection, often from mobile phones using a different mobile phone, computer, laptops or PDAs. Bluesnarfing allows access to the calendar, address book, e- mails and text messages. It is a bigger problem than Bluejacking. Programs such as Blooover use without the user's knowledge of a vulnerability. Any device that has turned the Bluetooth connection and is set to " visible to others ", can be attacked. With deactivated visibility function that device before Bluesnarfing is slightly more secure, but security guarantees only a complete disable Bluetooth function. Bluesnarfing intervenes in the privacy and is illegal in many countries.

The possibility of ' Bluesnarfing ' in November 2003, was discovered by Adam Laurie of AL Digital, a British security company. It is based on an error in the Object Exchange ( OBEX ) protocol of Bluetooth.
