The Bluffton University is a Mennonite college in the U.S. state of Ohio.

History

The college was founded in 1899 by the Mennonite side as Central Mennonite College. In 1913 there was a first renamed Bluffton College. In 2004, the College eventually took the name of Bluffton University. The Bluffton University has a liberal arts college, a wide range of courses. It offered 40 courses of study that can each be completed with a Bachelor of Arts. In addition, three subjects can be completed with the master.

Self-understanding

The College sees itself as a Mennonite college, but is also open to students of other denominations and religions since its inception. The majority of students now has a non -Mennonite background. Nevertheless, Anabaptist- Mennonite principles like non-violence and honesty in the way the university continue to play a role. As a Christian university, the Bluffton University is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities since 1991.

In tests, the students of Bluffton University will not be supervised. Instead, the students vouch with their honor to have edited the tests themselves.
