Bob Douglas

Robert L. "Bob" Douglas ( * November 4, 1882 in St Kitts, † July 16, 1979 in New York City ) was an African-American sports manager and founder of the New York Renaissance. He is regarded as the "Father of Black Professional Basketball ". Douglas was 1922-1949 owner and coach of the New York Renaissance. Under his leadership, the Rens won 1932/33, the record streak of 88 consecutive games, also the title of World Professional tournaments in 1939. Overall, the Rens recorded in Douglas ' era over 2,500 victories. As a coach, Douglas influence the future members of the Basketball Hall of Fame Charles T. Cooper and William " Pop " Gates prevail.

On April 20, 1972 was Douglas, as "facilitators " (English: contributor ) into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
