Bob May (actor)

Bob May ( born September 4, 1939 in New York City; † January 18, 2009 in Lancaster, California ) was an American actor and stuntman.

Life

May began his acting career in live broadcast comedy shows like the Colgate Comedy Hour. The 1950s until the mid- 1960s he worked as a stuntman from mid, first for television series such as 77 Sunset Strip, and later for feature films such as The Nutty Professor with Jerry Lewis in the lead role. In this film, he also had an appearance as an actor. In 1966 he was engaged in his work as a stuntman on the Western San Fernando by director Irwin Allen for the role of the robot in the series Lost between alien worlds ( Lost in Space ). June Lockhart, who played in the series has a main role, described it thus:

"He happened to be on the studio lot when someone saw him and sent because of the role to Irwin Allen. Allen said: " If you fit into the suit, you have the role." "

May played the role in 87 sets between 1965 and 1968. Due to the high popularity of the series even after decades, he stepped up to the last regularly on Lost - In-Space - conventions. In November 2008, his estate in the San Fernando Valley was destroyed in a forest fire. May died at the age of 69 of heart failure.
