Bobby Lowe (karateka)

Edward "Bobby" Lowe ( born August 23, 1929 † 14 September 2011) was an American- Chinese martial arts expert and pioneer of karate in the style of Kyokushin (8th Dan ) in Hawaii, United States.

Life

He was a pupil of James Masayoshi Mitose in the style of Kenpo Kosho - ryû before he met through Ōyama Masutatsu 1952, the Kyokushin. Lowe followed Ōyama to Japan became its first foreign students and Oyama's first uchideshi.

Opened in 1957, Lowe in Hawaii, the first Kyokushin dojo outside of Japan and was there for over 50 years as a teacher Kyokushin active. Until his death he was one of the highest ranking representatives from the Oyama's International Karate Organization ( IKO ), headed Akiyoshi Matsui incurred IKO1. His students included, inter alia, Arthur Kôji Hisatake.
