Bocages wall lizard ( Podarcis bocagei )

Bocages wall lizard ( Podarcis bocagei ) is a species of lizard of the genus wall lizard, which is endemic in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.

Appearance

Bocages wall lizard has a head -body length of about five to seven inches. The tail length is about twice that. It was formerly considered a subspecies of the Spanish wall lizard, although it is not as flat as this. In addition, it is robust physique from her, and the females are striped to a lesser extent along. The back of the males is often green, the flanks orange-brown with dark mesh patterns. Often, this is limited by very bright line, sometimes with a blue shoulder patch. The belly is whitish mottled to orange and additionally dark.

Habitat

The lizard is only found in the north- west of the Iberian peninsula ( north-western Spain, north of Portugal ), there in the flat and mountainous country up to an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level. She lives mainly on dry, rocky and partially covered slopes. However, she does not climb as good as the Spanish wall lizard.

Other types

Another type is the Carbonell - wall lizard ( Podarcis carbo nelli ), which is used in two subspecies. ( P. c. Carbo nelli, P. c. Berlengsis dissemination in blue). Their habitat is in the western central Spain and eastern Portugal and southern Spain. It was regarded until recently as a subspecies of Podarcis bocagei. It is striking that the flanks of the males of this species have a strong green.
