Bogachiel State Park
The Bogachiel State Park is a state park in Clallam County in the U.S. state of Washington. The park is located in the northwest of the Olympic Peninsula nine kilometers south of Forks on U.S. Highway 101.
Geography
The 49 -acre park is located on the north bank of the Bogachiel River. The region receives an annual rainfall 3500-4000 mm, so that the park is covered with a dense rain forest of hemlock, Douglas fir, giant living trees and berry bushes.
History
The name Bogachiel borrowed from the language of the Klallam word meaning " Cloudy Water ". The park was established in 1931. Since the state of Washington could not finance the operation of the park, he was operated until 1961, together with the Bogachiel Commerical Club and the Forks Chamber of Commerce,
Tourist Facilities
The park has a campground with about 40 parking spaces, a group campground and a picnic area. Two short trails lead to the riverfront. In the river you can fish for salmon or rainbow trout on the river can be driven with canoes or kayaks.
