Bogdan Bacanu

Bogdan Bácanu ( born July 31, 1975 in Bucharest, Romania) is an Austrian marimba. Since 1998 he is professor for marimba at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz in Linz / Austria.

Career

Since the age of 23 he is a professor of marimba at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz ( Austria ) and was world's youngest professor in his field. He has already received five years of piano lessons in his native city of Bucharest and was already 13 years old drummer with the Bucharest Philharmonic George Enescu. Bogdan Bácanu studied marimba at the Mozarteum University in his current hometown of Salzburg, under his mentor Prof. Peter Sadlo.

Since then, Bogdan Bácanu gives solo recitals and concerts with orchestra and ensemble and toured in many European countries, North America, Asia and Australia. He has performed with renowned artists such as Keiko Abe, Gidon Kremer and Peter Sadlo, worked with the conductor Dennis Russell Davies, Cristian Horia Andreescu and Mandeal and has performed with various orchestras, such as the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic, the Bucharest Philharmonic.

With the Japanese marimba player Momoko Kamiya him a close partnership with concerts, master classes and CD recordings.

With music festivals such as The Biennial in Brisbane ( Australia), the Princeton Marimba Festival, the Percussion Festival of Thessaloniki, the curls House Music Festival, Voices of Percussion Vienna, World Marimba Festival Osaka, ' les muséiques ' Festival Basel / Switzerland, hard to Festspieleröffnung Salzburg, 2nd International Marimba Competition 2004 in Belgium, 2005 in Slovenia, International Percussion Competition PENDIM in Plovdiv / Bulgaria, Zeltsman Marimba Festival in the USA, International Marimba Festival in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Mexico, he was invited several times.

Bogdan Bácanu is a lecturer at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg, was a visiting professor at Zeltsman Marimba Festival in the USA, at the 4th International Marimba Festival 2004 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico, and was invited by world renowned universities and festivals to give master classes.

As artistic director of the International Marimba Festival Linz he called a regularly recurring cultural event to life. After the great and continual success of his festivals he founded the International Marimba Competition in 2006 with a jury. Since 2009, the competition every three years, will take place in Salzburg in cooperation with the University and the International Summer Academy Mozarteum.

Composers such as John Thrower ( Canada / Germany ), Alexander waste stream ( Luxembourg / Austria ) and Emmanuel Séjourné (France ) wrote and dedicated works to him and concerts, which he published in part on his CDs.

Bogdan Bácanu loves himself and respects the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach. His great concern is the marimba to give as a solo instrument in the world of music heard. His arrangements of harpsichord concertos BWV 1060 to BWV 1062, in which he demonstrated high adherence to the text, he shows his recently released CD with The Wave Quartet, Peter Sadlo (Conductor) and the Baroque Orchestra Salzburg Baroque. " Other arrangements of Bácanu as the Chaconne from the Partita in D minor BWV 1004 and the Harpsichord concertos BWV 1052, 1054 and 1056 have been released on CD.
