Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra

The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1945, has for over 65 years a prominent place in the international orchestral scene. From the 2013/2014 season, Matthias Foremny is the new chief conductor of the orchestra. He takes over the position of Michael Hofstetter, who held the post from 2006 to 2013.

His reputation earned the orchestra already under its legendary founder and longtime director Karl Münchinger. During this time, the orchestra was primarily through the interpretation of works by JS Bach and W. A. Known Mozart. Dennis Russell Davies extended from 1995 to 2006 as chief conductor of the orchestra repertoire in particular to works of the 20th century. He is still connected to the orchestra as conductor laureate.

First recordings already go back to the year 1949 and are evidence of one of the most successful orchestra biographies in the young post-war Germany. Last appeared in 2013 under the direction of Ariadne Daskalakis a recording of Vivaldi concertos ( tacet ) and at ambitus the CD " Horn Concertos " under the direction of Paul Meyer.

These include, among other things, Kolja Blacher, Julia Fischer, Daniel Hope, Steven Isserlis, Patricia Kopatchinskaya, Daniel Müller- Schott, Fazil Say, Hélène Grimaud, Paul Meyer, Ian Bostridge, Renaud Capuçon Gautier Capuçon, Altstaedt, Christian Zacharias, Martin Fröst Emmanuel Pahud and.

An important emphasis in the work of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra is the cooperation with Stuttgart educational institutions. In addition to numerous projects with the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, the orchestra works in the context of education projects with elementary school students and visually impaired teenagers.

The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra takes his role as a musical ambassador true by an intense and international guest activity. After concerts in South Korea, France, Russia, Spain, Nepal, China and Japan in recent years, the orchestra undertook last tours and guest tours to India and South America, Switzerland, France, Spain and the Netherlands.

For his extraordinary commitment to the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra was awarded in 2008, the European Chamber Music Prize of the European Cultural Foundation.
