Bogislaw VII, Duke of Pomerania

Bogislaw VII ( * before 1355, † 1404) was a Duke of Pomerania -Stettin from the grasping house.

Life and achievements

Bogislaw VII was a son of Duke Barnim III. the church founders (around 1303-1368 ), who ruled the Duchy of Pomerania -Stettin in Pomerania part. After the death of Barnim III. in 1368, took over his three surviving sons, besides Bogislaw VII his older brothers Casimir III. and Swantibor III. , jointly rule in Pomerania -Stettin.

After Casimir III. 1372 fell in battle against Brandenburg, translated Swantibor III. and Bogislaw VII the common government in Pomerania -Stettin continued. Bogislaw is mentioned in the records as an equal Duke, but stood in the shadow of his older brothers. He died in 1404; the surviving brother Swantibor III. put the government in Pomerania -Stettin continued alone.

Maybe Bogislaw VII is identical to the " hertog [e ] va groetswün ", so probably the "Duke of Groswin ", whose coat of arms is depicted in the Codex Gelre, a coat of arms book from the end of the 14th century.
