BÅgu
Bogu (防具) is the name for the Kendo (剣 道) and the Naginatadō (薙刀 道/长刀 道) worn armor.
Description
The bogu consists of several items, the fencing mask (面, men), the hull protection (胴, Dō ), the Hip (垂れ, Tare ) and gloves (甲 手, even小 手, Kote ), which protect the hands and forearms and fully weigh between three and five kilograms. Under the Men welding a thin cotton cloth is still worn, the tenugui. When Naginatadō additional shin protection is needed, which is called Sune ate (脛 当て). Bogu are manufactured and offered in several levels of quality, with especially the spacing of the stitches all seams is crucial.
