Bohdan Warchal

Bohdan Warchal ( born January 27, 1930 in Orlová, Czechoslovakia, † December 30, 2000 in Bratislava, Slovakia) was a Slovak violinist, a member of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor and soloist of the Slovak Chamber Orchestra.

Warchal was trained as a violinist at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. In 1957 he was appointed Head of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislava. In 1960 he founded the Slovak Chamber Orchestra, whose artistic director and soloist he was. In 1969 he was awarded the title of " honored artist " and in 1983 the title of " National Artist " by the former Czechoslovak government.
