Bohuslav Fuchs

Bohuslav Fuchs ( born March 24, 1895 in Všechovice, District Holešov, † September 18, 1972 in Brno ) was a Czech architect and urban planner.

Life

Fuchs first learned the trade of Mason, with whom he incidentally made ​​money during his studies at the Brno Trade School and from 1916 at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts at Jan Kotera. The outstanding student was allowed two years working in Kotera private studio.

From the early 1920s, Fox worked as an architect in the Brno city administration and established numerous public and private buildings. Among others, he took 1928 at the Werkbund exhibition " Nový dum " part. He was involved also a leader in the creation of the current regulatory plan of the city to this day. Among the most famous buildings of Brno fox include Café Zeman (1925, 1995 reconstructed ) and the Hotel Avion, which was declared a National Monument in 2010. In 1937 he planned the Slovak Trenčianske Teplice thermal baths Green Frog.

Fuchs was also at the center of Brno artistic avant-garde of the interwar period. In 1947 Fuchs was professor at the Technical University in Brno, at the end of the 1950s, however, he was forced politically to the edge. Fox has received numerous awards and honors for his hundredth birthday a monument to him was erected.
