Boiorix

Boiorix († 101 BC near Vercellae ) was a king of the tribe of the Cimbri. He led the Cimbri from their original area of the North Sea southwards to find new land. His biggest success was the devastating defeat of the Romans at Arausio in 105 BC Some years before, 113 BC, he had been able to defeat them in Noreia. Later, in 101 BC, he was defeated by Gaius Marius in Vercellae. He fell in battle.
